Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Bill Gates are trying to develop technologies to reduce carbon emissions
Climate change also matters for tech billionaires. The three rich men Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Bill Gates, who are among the five wealthiest people in the world, have long been trying to develop new technologies that can reduce carbon emissions.
Musk, for example, is concentrated on funding technologies reducing carbon, while Gates is confident about nuclear energy, and Bezos has created the Bezos Earth fund. And they all believe that technology is an important aspect of the solving problem of climate change.
But there are also critics who think they should pay more attention to tree planting. It is widely known that trees are one of the most efficient ways to remove carbon from the atmosphere. And it is happening through a chemical reaction, by converting the gas into energy, which is then used for the tree’s growth. According to statistics, twelve of twenty climate solutions are related to agriculture or tree planting.
Last week, Prince William highlighted the importance of investing in nature to fight climate change to protect our planet. He highlighted the need to invest in nature by reforestation and agriculture. Trees not only remove carbon from the atmosphere but also fight biodiversity loss.
Despite all benefits of trees, reforestation is still low on the tech billionaire list. And if they won’t solve the climate change problem by planting more trees, they could still have a huge impact if they concentrated more of their capital on the issue.
