By this moment, we know many creatures that live underwater and can glow. But for the first time, a team of scientists studying marine life discovered a shark with luminescent abilities. This shark has been found on the coast of New Zealand. Although this is not the first such “luminous shark”, it is distinguished by its huge size.

It can grow up to almost 6 feet in length and is considered the largest known luminous animal. It is believed that since these sharks live deep underwater and without daylight, they use this ability to disguise themselves. This phenomenon happens due to a chemical reaction in the body of the shark. Scientists also concluded that because of this, the shark has the ability to “explode”. All this helps the shark to search and hunt for prey, as well as to attack being unnoticed.
